Vacation resort hacks. The little tips and tricks you pick up throughout your vacation that you wish you had known on the first day. Beaches Turks & Caicos has them, and I discovered a few of them while I was there. Here are 5 things that you might be glad you knew from the very start of your trip:
1 Book the cheapest room. This hack is worth the price of admission. We stayed in the Caribbean section because it was the cheapest room available. Online reviews blast the rooms in this section. One reviewer even detailed how she broke down in tears because her room was so bad. I mean really? You booked the cheapest room in the oldest section of the resort. What did you expect? The Ritz Carlton?
Our room was just fine. Sure, I have stayed in better rooms at other resorts. But, if you are spending any meaningful time in the room you’d better be sleeping… or enjoying “us time” with your spouse. Otherwise you are doing it wrong. Get outside, lay by the pool, walk the beach, go snorkeling. Do anything that takes advantage of all the activities that Beaches Turks & Caicos includes.
One of the friends that went on this trip with us is a travel agent. While we were there she took the agent tour of the resort. After seeing a room in each section her opinion was that the Italian section had the nicest rooms. However, if you ask her where she would book her family, she would tell you the Caribbean section. Don’t believe me? Ask her yourself.
2 Book Kimonos as soon as you arrive. Kimonos is the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant. It is only open on certain days so you have to make a reservation. The atmosphere at the restaurant is a lot of fun, and if you have kids they will really enjoy it. We were at Beaches Turks & Caicos during slow season so had no trouble getting in. I could see how it may be difficult to get a reservation if you are there during busy season.
3 Go during slow season. Since I mentioned we were there during slow season it should be one of the hacks, right? We went in September because our kids get a fall break from school. The resort was nearly a ghost town. It was awesome. No waits for anything. It was almost like we had the place to ourselves. It would be hard to go back during busy season after being there in the slow season. I’d seriously consider taking my kids out of school for a week to hit slow season. You could always teach them about international travel and call be a home schooler for that week!
4 Try all the restaurants. I think we managed to try all the restaurants that were open while we were there. We had our favorites. My overall favorite was the Jerk Shack. In fact, my wife and I are about to go to Sandals Montego Bay and even though the Jerk Shack is not listed on the website I am expecting Jerk to be on the menu. It is in Jamaica after all.
One other note on the restaurants… most of them will do take out orders. If you have a nice space by the pool and you start to get a little hangry, it’s no problem. Just walk over and pick up a take out order. There is nothing better then some eating some jerk chicken by the pool with nice cold Pina Colada to wash it down!
5 Pool Hop. This may sounds simple, but with the number of pools on the resort property you may need to create a plan-of-attack. We found that each pool had its own personality. After we tried all of the main pools we settled in at the Cascades Pool for the last few days. It had the best poolside service we found anywhere on the resort. Be adventurous, you can even try more than one pool in a single day!
There you have it. Five hacks that hopefully you can use to make your trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos so much better. If you have been, and have additional hack, please share them in the comments below.
My Review of Beaches Turks & Caicos in xx Words
There is a reason that Beaches Turks & Caicos is considered the standard that all other family-friendly all-inclusive resorts strive to attain. The facilities were great, the food was great, and the overall vacation my family took was great. There is little work to be done to improve the dive center operations and the overall level of service at the resort, but nothing that detracts from the awesome time you and your family will have at this resort.
